Episode 1: Baron Munchausen was a dirty old man
Updated: Jul 3, 2020
When I was a young girl growing up in Central Kansas...
Just kidding. This isn't that kind of food blog.
This was the inaugural episode of the podcast. Have you listened to the podcast? You should. Without boring you with too many details, basically we watch movies, make food and cocktails based on the movies, and then drink while we talk about the movies. Now, years later, we finally provide you with an easy way to locate the recipes we used and make them for yourselves!
Without further adieu, here are the recipes from Episode One:
Foods: Bacon Kale Chips (dang Millennials), Meatballs Gingerly Spiced
Cocktails: Rum Flip, Copa Verde
(Don't have the source for all of these, but if you know where they came from, leave a comment and we'll give credit!)
Bacon Kale Chips
Meatballs Gingerly Spiced
1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves, barely chopped
2 teaspoons kosher salt
8 ounces silver tequila
4 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice
4 ounces water
4 ounces light agave syrup, plus more for rimming the glasses
1 medium avocado, peeled and pitted
Mix together the thyme and salt in a small, shallow bowl. Place a small amount of agave syrup in another small bowl. Using your finger, rim 6 shooter glasses with the syrup, then dip the rims into the thyme-salt mixture. Set the glasses aside.
Place the remaining ingredients except the ice in a blender and blend on high until smooth.
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Pour in some of the blended mixture, filling the shaker about halfway. Shake until thoroughly chilled, about 20 to 30 seconds. Strain into the rimmed shooter glasses. Repeat with the remaining blended ingredients. Serve immediately.
